Container Ship Fleet Route Evaluation and Similarity Measurement between Two Shipping Line Ports

چکیده
The characterization of ship routes and route similarity measurement based on Automatic Identification System (AIS) data are topics various scientific interests. Common research approaches use available AIS identifiers types. However, assessing profiles for individual fleets requires collecting from secondary sources, dedicated software libraries or the creation specific methods. Using an open-source approach, public data, we evaluate characteristics container ships a single fleet in six-month period, calling two selected ports shipping line USA East Coast. We terms length, duration speed, whereas employ discrete Fréchet distance (DFD). voyage average speed distributions were observed to be moderately positive (0.77), negative (−0.62), highly positively skewed adjusted Fisher–Pearson coefficient skewness (1.23). most similar voyages same ships, with lowest value (0.9 NM), 2 different had dissimilar voyages, highest DFD (14.1 NM). proposed methodology enables assessment similarities between fleets.

Crane Double Cycling in Container Ports: Planning Methods and Evaluation
In this paper we look at the longer term impact of double cycling on port operations including crane, vessel, and berth productivity. Double cycling is a technique by which empty crane moves are converted into productive ones. We use a double cycling sequence that is operationally convenient, easy to model, and nearly optimum. We compare the performance of this sequence to those determined by a...
متن کاملEfficiency Assessment of Container Operations of Shipping Agents in Spanish Ports
In this paper a two-stage Data Envelopment Approach (DEA) is used to assess the relative efficiency of container shipping agents operating in Spanish ports, studying also its influencing factors. In the first stage, an input-oriented, Variable Returns To Scale (VRS) model is used to compute efficiency scores of the different shipping agents. The model considers labor as input and numbers of loa...
متن کاملA Tactical Planning Model for Liner Shipping Companies: Managing Container Flow and Ship Deployment Jointly
This paper addresses two practical problems from a liner shipping company, i.e., the container flow management problem and the ship deployment problem at the tactical planning level. The joint optimization model, as well as, a sequential model, is formulated to solve the problems. Our results show the company should implement the joint optimization model at the tactical planning level to improv...

We will gives an overview of several decision problem encountered in liner shipping. We will cover problems on the strategic, tactical and operational planning levels as well as problems that can be considered at two planning levels simultaneously. Furthermore, we will shortly discuss some related problems in terminals, geographical bottlenecks for container ships and provide an overview of ope...
متن کاملCompetition between Container Ports in the Northern Adriatic
World trade has changed in the last decade such that container traffic flows are oriented towards more parts of the European continent. The European container port system is not a homogeneous set of ports; instead it consists of several big ports (e.g., Rotterdam, Hamburg, Algeciras...) and a large number of medium and small ports. Northern Adriatic (NA) ports, namely Rijeka, Koper, Trieste, Ve...
